History
Descended from Spanish dogs brought to Florida in the 1500s, developed by early cattlemen ('Crackers') to work the tough Florida Cracker Cattle in rugged terrain. The breed faced extinction but was revived by dedicated enthusiasts and maintained by regional breed organizations.
