Developed in Mexico in the mid-1990s through controlled hybridization of Mexican Gray Wolves with domestic dogs, primarily German Shepherds and Alaskan Malamutes, to create a wolf-like companion breed that preserves cultural heritage while maintaining domestic dog temperament and trainability. Provisionally recognized by the FCI and the Federación Canófila Mexicana.
